Joji Shiga
I am a lucky organ builder. It is my good fortune to have become a member of the Fisk team in March, 2022.
I used to work with several different organ companies. My golden start as an organ builder was at Paul Fritts & Company in Tacoma, WA where I learned mainly pipe making skills. Two years later at Henry Willis & Sons Organ Builders in Liverpool I had a great opportunity to repair thousands of pipes from various 18th to early 20th century organs. At Pasi Organ Builders I learned about making reed pipes, and especially, shallots. I hired as a pipe maker at Garnier Facteurs d’Orgues in Japan & France in 2011 where I developed ability in wood working too. Soon after, I moved to New England where I worked with the good organ builders at Noack Organ at Georgetown, MA for a few months.
It is always sad to leave place that has become familiar, but I am really happy that my path has led me to Gloucester. I am so excited about what I can learn, and to deepen my knowledge with the Fisk team.
