Nami Hamada

Tonal Director

Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Nami Hamada started playing the organ when she was 14, and the music of J.S. Bach and the construction of pipe organs attracted her to pursue a career in organ building. She further pursued her studying organ performance with Yuko Hayashi at Ferris University, Yokohama, Japan, and she holds a BMA at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She began her organ building career at C. B. Fisk in 1999, and she continued at Noack Organ Company from 2018 to 2021. During her organ building career, she has worked with John Brombaugh on his instrument in Japan, and with Bertrand Cattiaux as an exchange organ builder from 2011-12. As a freelancer, she has worked with Martin Pasi, Richards, Fowkes & Co., Michael Rathke, David and Nick Wallace to deepen and broaden her knowledge and experience as an organ builder. She returned to C. B. Fisk in 2023 as Tonal Director. Nami currently serves on the board of Directors at Old West Organ Society in Boston, and she is a panelist for the National Registry for Historic Organs in the Organ Historical Society.
